Why Focus on Water?

Water scarcity is a chronic issue in East and Central Lombok, Indonesia, with severe droughts occurring annually from September to October. Residents of Desa Bujak, located in the heart of Lombok, faced daily challenges accessing clean water, relying on a shallow well and trekking up to 5 kilometres for their water needs.

Our Solution: The AirKu Pilot Project

To address this critical situation, we launched the AirKu pilot project. Through collaboration with local stakeholders, we successfully drilled a 67-meter well, providing year-round access to clean water for 22 families.

This initial success marks the first phase of the AirKu project. Our next steps include expanding water access to the entire Desa Bujak community and exploring irrigation improvements to support local livelihoods.

Voices from the Community

The borehole well initiative by IMPACTO has brought numerous benefits to our community. It provides essential water for bathing, cooking, washing, and drinking.

It also supports the growth of plants and foliage around our homes and serves the needs of our livestock and fishing activities. Additionally, the well is a vital resource for the children studying at Taman Baea Qurian and for various other needs of our local community.

We, the Desa Bujak community, are immensely grateful for this initiative and hold high hopes to assist and support the construction of another borehole well. We also look forward to acquiring a diesel-powered machine to help draw water from the river.

Thank you very much for your continued support and dedication to improving our lives.
